Gas appliances offer the most versatility. With 'smart' remote-controls or wall thermostats, they can operate as heating appliances, or can just be about ambiance & mood. Today's modern units are clean-burning and highly efficient, offering warmth without releasing sooty particulate-laden smoke into the environment. Gas fireplace units are available in either natural gas or Liquid Petroleum (LP) models.

The snap and pop sounds and the warmth of a roaring wood fire is unmistakable! However, environmental considerations and restrictions in California air-quality districts sometimes means burning wood fires is not allowed. Some people object to woodpiles and the nasties that tend to live in them (scorpions, spiders, etc.). - Hence the popularity of gas as a fuel source!
